BEFORE YOU TRAVEL TO BELIZE

 Getting from Belize City to Machaca Hill: Machaca Hill Lodge suggests allowing us to assist with the arrangement of your local transfers from and to the Belize International Airport. Most guests opt for air transfers to Punta Gorda - to make arrangements, please inform us of your international carrier's arrival and departure time to/from Belize City. We will then reserve seats and notify you of your local airline's (Tropic Air) flight number and departure time.

 Passport Requirements for travel to Belize: All visitors are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within 90 days of arrival, along with a return airline ticket. Visas are not currently required for travelers from the US, European Community or British Commonwealth.

GETTING TO MACHACA HILL

 Arrival in Belize and Transfer to Machaca Hill: Upon arrival at Belize International Airport, proceed through Immigrations, collect luggage and clear Customs.
If you have booked air transfers, after clearing Customs continue into the domestic terminal and go to the Tropic Air counter, on the far left. Your tickets will be waiting for you under both "Machaca Hill Lodge" and your last name; the flight to Punta Gorda is 60 minutes. Upon arrival at the Punta Gorda airstrip, you will be met by a representative of Machaca Hill for transport you to the lodge, which is a 15-minute drive.
*Please Note: Single traveling parents/adults traveling with minors will need a letter of authority from the minors' parent/s/or spouse giving the responsible adult/parent permission to travel into Belize with the minor.

 Departure from Belize: After returning to the Belize International Airport you will need to check-in with your airline and then proceed through the to the departure lounge. You will be required to pay a US$37.50 per person Belize Airport Departure tax payable in US$ cash or Credit Card prior to going through security.

AT MACHACA HILL

 Meals: Chef Ken Gundu and his talented team provide an extraordinary level of dining each day with an international menu that highlights Belizean flavors. The culinary experience starts each morning with a coffee or tea wake-up service and continues through breakfast, lunch, high tea, pre-dinner and dinner. Chef Ken will cater to special dietary needs upon request and asks that guests send any needs in advance of their arrival so that he can have any necessary ingredients available in his kitchen.

 Liquor & Cigars: The bar at Machaca Hill offers an extensive selection of top shelf house and premium liquors, wine, champagne, beer, liqueurs and a range of Cuban cigars.

 Jabulani Spa: Machaca Hill's inviting Maya inspired designed spa offers a range of holistic treatments and services in a tranquil environment. Treatments may be requested in advance of your arrival on the guest preference form, if desired, or booked any time during your stay based on availability.

 Special Occasions: Machaca Hill would like to help you celebrate any special occasion that might occur during your stay. If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, engagement or any other occasion, please let us know.

 Shopping: To meet our guests needs we have a well stocked shop, offering souvenirs and sundries. Handicrafts, Costa del Mar sunglasses, clothing, toiletries and more are available for our guests.

 Internet: Wireless internet service is available throughout the lodge and available to all guests included on a complimentary basis. Although it is generally a reliable high-speed service, it is on a satellite link and can, at times, be affected by adverse weather conditions.

 Tipping: Tipping is a personal decision based on service. Normally guides and staff are tipped upon departure in accordance to help rendered. Ask the general manager for guidelines.

USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT BELIZE

 Currency: The Belizean currency is the Belize dollar. It is commonly exchanged using a rate of BZE$2.00 for US$1.00. Guests do not need to convert currencies, everyone accepts US$ and will give back BZ$ in change.

 Cellular Phones: Cell phones work in Belize if you have activated international service with your home provider. Contact your Cellular provider in advance of your departure for information on services available within Belize.

 Electricity: Belize uses 110 volt, 60 cycle electricity, the same as North America. Plugs are typically the 2 pronged flat type so North American guests will not need a converter or adaptor, but UK and European guests will.

 Time Zone: Belize is six hours behind GMT (same as CST) and does not observe daylight-savings time, so from April-October, Belize is seven hours behind GMT (same as MST).
